Ginuwine

Elgin Baylor Lumpkin (born October 15, 1970 in Washington, D.C.) better known by his stage name Ginuwine is an American singer and performer. Signed to Epic Records since the mid-1990s, Ginuwine has released a number of multi-platinum and platinum-selling albums and singles, becoming one of R&B’s top artists during the 1990s heyday of hip-hop soul.
Ginuwine can be spotted in one of Jodeci’s videos. There, he met rapper Missy Elliott and producer “Timbaland”, who became his main collaborators through the 1990s. Ginuwine’s first single, the 1996 ” Pony” from Ginuwine…The Bachelor, showcased his smooth vocals and Timbaland’s innovative production style, and the two became a hit-making duo.
After his second album, 100% Ginuwine, released in 1999, Ginuwine and Timbaland grew apart, and producers such as R. Kelly have crafted hits for him since then. In 2001, Ginuwine had a number- four hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with the single ” Differences”, which also peaked at number-one on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. In 2002, Ginuwine was a feature artist on P. Diddy’s number-one hit “I Need a Girl (Part II)”.

Ying Yang Twins

Atlanta’s party rap duo Ying Yang Twins scored a hit with the single “Whistle While You Twurk,” which received nationwide airplay on urban and crossover radio stations. Their full-length debut album, Thug Walkin’, appeared later in 2000. Alley…Return of the Ying Yang Twins from 2002 sold well down South, but it was the duo’s 2003 team-up with Lil Jon — “the King of Crunk” — that brought them nationwide success. The party anthem “Salt Shaker” was a massive club and radio hit and soon had the TVT label chasing the duo to sign. They did, and their first album for the label, Me & My Brother, yielded two more crunk hits, “What’s Happnin!” and “Naggin’.” The same year the duo appeared on Britney Spears’ album In the Zone and her television special of the same name. In 2004, TVT released the remix-filled My Brother & Me with a bonus DVD of the group’s videos. USA (United State of Atlanta) appeared in the summer of 2005 as its single “Wait (The Whisper Song)” was dominating urban radio. Chemically Imbalanced followed in 2006.

MIMS

Born into a Jamaican-American family in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, Shawn Mims grew up influenced by the rappers just south of him, in Harlem. Despite the fact that he lost both parents by the time he was 13, Mims focused on music (his mother had given him his first set of DJ equipment shortly before she died) and school to keep himself out of trouble. Though he briefly attended community college, Mims decided if he truly wanted to make it as a rapper he needed to drop out, a move that paid off career-wise: he was soon featured on the song “Love Em All” by Canadian group Baby Blue Soundcrew, which was nominated for Best Video in the 2001 Much Music Awards. “I Did You Wrong” came out in 2003 thanks to help from the Miami-based production team the Blackout Movement, and in 2006 the rapper, who was now going by MIMS, independently released the single “This Is Why I’m Hot.” The song did well enough on local radio stations, including New York’s Hot 97, to garner attention from major labels, including EMI/Capitol, which released MIMS’ full-length debut, Music Is My Savior, in 2007.
